On a hill above the Stillaguamish River, there is a world-famous Arabian horse farm surrounded by green pastures, wild eagles, and tall evergreen trees. The setting is Pacific Northwest perfect, with white fences emphasizing the emerald pastures. Mares graze with their foals nearby, playing among gleaming yellow buttercups. It's a busy place, with staff working on their daily "to do" lists, and horses being readied for training sessions. Visitors are always welcome at R. O. Lervick Arabians, and our recent visit gave us a glimpse of the workings behind each future champion.

Anchored by their foundation stallion, Cytosk+++, home-bred and client-bred foals alike are famed for winning national level performance and halter classes.  With his high set, arched neck, and large, dark eyes, Cytosk+++ has a classic look that's reflected all over the farm. Now backed by his national champion siring, black son, Out of Cyte, The Cytosk+++ legacy is easy to see, as his descendants display his big trot, wide, pretty face, fancy ears, work ethic, and friendly disposition.

We saw several stunning foals today. Three fillies and a two colts, from four different dams. What each had in common with the other, was the roundness of the poll at the trot, overall refinement, and ability to gather into natural collection. The impulsion and carriage of tomorrow's outstanding riding horses was already there; just as you'd hope from a farm specializing in breeding and training performance champions. As an early admirer of the Polish import, *Cytrys, I was glad to see the careful blending of the *Bask and *Cytrys sire lines, along with strong American imports, create so many similar, well-structured individuals. Many stallion quality foals are born here; but you better speak up for them quickly, as national quality performance geldings are a specialty at the Lervick barn.

We walked from pasture to pasture, eventually ending up with Cytosk+++ himself. My daughter, Shannon, and I heard the call of a bald eagle as it launched from the nearby evergreen trees. We watched him patiently circling above us, as we went into the pasture to admire Cytosk+++. There's been countless National wins won by the sons and daughters of this soft-eyed, sweet, chestnut Arabian stallion. At twenty-seven years old, his list of champion sons, daughters, and grandchildren fill many pages. The Lervicks have spent a lifetime choosing mares to complement what Cytosk+++ gave them. When you visit, you'll find many fine examples of the type of Arabian horse R. O. Lervick's have become famous for; each a potential national champion, bred in the pastures under the eagles, in Stanwood, WA. Watch more videos from our visit to Lervick's, here.
