Stacey Mayer, the Free Online Arabian Horse ColorBook artist, is a 1974 graduate
of Nathan Hale High School, Seattle, and attended
the U of W and WSU. Her mother
always encouraged her artistic talents, and recognised her ability when she was a
small child. Illustrating sports banners in high school, or later, creating drawings for
the Arabian Horse Registry, Stacey has been able to focus on her artistic talents with the
full support of her husband and family.
Stacey's first horse, Seraphim, (1A - Sabrinas Beau) was given to her by her Dad, Robert
Rank, when she was about 12 years old. The gelding was a very green-broke, dark chestnut
half-Arabian/Anglo sired by Ga'Marz, a son of the wonderful Ga'Zi. He had smooth gaits,
and an equally smooth method of dumping her on the ground more times than she can
remember. She rode him on trails every weekend possible, and all during the summers in the
Woodinville, Wa trails with her friends Leslie Coey, Charleene Pickrell, and Marcia
Tweten. Lots of babysitting paid for any expenses or new tack her horse needed.
As a young adult, Stacey took lessons briefly with the much beloved Pony Club leader,
Betty Tukey, in Pullman, WA. Seraphim's marvelous rocking chair canter promised great
potential in dressage, and with some dedication and relearning on both their parts, he was
finally able to share his true athletic abilities with all who rode him. After Stacey
married Phil Mayer, they both took dressage lessons together from the talented dressage
teacher, Dr. Jean Nokes Ghivizanni, of Seattle. Seraphim will be deeply loved and
remembered forever.
Stacey and her husband, Philip, have four daughters and have been married 27 years.
Shannon, 22, Cassandra, 19, Francesca, 18, and Kathleen, 14, in the Darrington, Washington School District, where
Stacey volunteers as an Art and HTML teacher. She is a self-taught computer user and
webmaster.
The Mayer family love Arabian horses the best of all the breeds, and also have a wonderful
Bernese Mountain Dog, Cally, and a Beagle named Tucker. They
have also adopted 6 local wandering and abandoned kittens, now all grown into treasured
companion cats. We live in a wonderful mountain
community of Darrington where neighbors are an extension of family. We strive to share
this feeling with our web community and neighbors.
Thank you to our volunteers, clients, and
forum readers for sharing the dream of AWhitehorse.com.
